Movie Review #13: The Lion King

***Movies are something that I find great entertainment in. They are art on the screen and come in so many types. This is my reason for doing my blog on movies and my reviews of them!

So I know I have been doing movies I have watched this year and some of my Oscar Best Picture movies I've seen but I wanted to do a movie review on a movie that doesn't fit in one of these categories but does fit into the category of probably my favorite movie of all time. It came out around 2 decades ago and is a classic Disney movie that has amazed millions including myself! This movie is none other than............... "The Lion King"!

So "The Lion King" (1994) is an animated Disney movie dealing with not only lions but all animals and the Circle of Life. It focuses on Simba, a young lion cub, who is destined to be king. This father, Mufasa, is the current king and teaches his son Simba the values and lessons of being king and a part of the circle of life. However, Mufasa's evil brother Scar grows jealous of his brother and future king nephew Simba and plots a plan to kill Mufasa and make Simba feel responsible for it. This happens and Simba leaves his home. Now Simba must grow and realize his rightful place as king and fight back with his family and friends to get back their home and maintain peace.

Overall, this is the greatest movie I have ever seen! Literally every part of this movie is perfect and it is everything you could ever want in a film! To start off, the story was fantastic! Seeing how this young cub runs away from his home in shame but must rise and fight back for his home, family, and friends, is amazing! It definitely is one of the best coming-of-age stories in the world! The characters were also all fantastic! You really cheer for Simba and his group and want them to succeed and it's great watching all their journeys! You have every type of character in this movie! Like I said it has everything you could ever want in a movie! Drama, adventure, action, comedy, romance, and just plain genius are all a part of this movie which makes it unique by doing it through animals who we can actually relate too! Also, the music is phenomenal and really helps communicate the messages of this movie! This leads into my last but favorite part about this movie, the incredible messages and themes! So many aspects of our actual lives are in this movie and help remind us of what we have to remember! You have to move on, you can't change the past, we are all connected, there is a circle of life that can't be broken, and of course Hakuna Matata (No Worries)! I could go on but all these aspects are so valuable which is what makes the movie timeless and great for anyone! You can learn so much from "The Lion King" and truly say that it is an unforgettable movie that will live on and will always be remembered!

Rating: 10/10 Stars!!!

In the end, "The Lion King" is an unbelievable movie that is unforgettable and one of films greatest movies ever! The story, characters, music, messages, and everything else that makes up this movie is what makes it so unique and a one in a million movie! I literally watched this movie every day for one year of my childhood and have watched it many other numerous times! This is not only because I love watching the movie but because it reminds me of my values that I learned at a very young age and that I want to keep a part of me for my entire life! "The Lion King" truly had a great impact on my life and is a movie that I will never forget and that everyone should watch and learn from to have their own experience with this timeless movie!

Movie Review #12: This Is the End

***Movies are something that I find great entertainment in. They are art on the screen and come in so many types. This is my reason for doing my blog on movies and my reviews of them!

So I haven't really done a comedy in a while so I thought it would be good to do a movie review on one of my favorite comedies of the year. It has a lot of famous comedians in it and received a lot of attention for it's story and comedy. This movie is....... "This Is the End"!

So "This Is the End" (2013) is a recent comedy starring famous celebrities like James Franco, Seth Rogan, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, and many others. Every actor plays themselves and there is a party at James Franco's house that all these celebrities attend and during it they are faced with the apocalypse. Now all these stars must work together to survive.

Overall, this movie was hilarious! The story was so unique because every actor was playing themselves and it looked so natural! All these celebrities are hilarious in general and when they were all brought together it really made it funny! The best part about it is that they had great chemistry and actually improved for a lot of the movie! This really made the film fun and even more entertaining to watch! The story is also fairly good! It was interesting and entertaining to see all these rich celebrities trying to survive in this situation! Again like many comedies it's not a groundbreaking movie you will never forget but it still is a great comedy that you will definitely laugh a lot and have a good time with!

Rating: 7/10 Stars

In the end, "This Is the End" (funny how that worked out) is a laugh-out-loud comedy that is really entertaining to watch and have fun with! It has great comedians who do a great job acting and working with the story which was very unique! It wasn't a breakthrough movie but is probably the funniest movie of this year! Definitely a movie that will make you laugh and you should try to see!

Movie Review #11: Fast & Furious 6

***Movies are something that I find great entertainment in. They are art on the screen and come in so many types. This is my reason for doing my blog on movies and my reviews of them!

Recently one of Hollywood's great stars, Paul Walker, passed away in a car accident. Paul Walker was famous for his role in The Fast and Furious movies and his death is a truly tragic event. I thought it would be appropriate to do my 11th movie review on one of his last movies and his last Fast and Furious movie. That of course is............. "Fast & Furious 6"!

So "Fast & Furious 6" (2013) is an action car-chase movie and the sixth movie in the famed Fast and Furious franchise. It brings back main characters like Dom Toretto played by Vin Diesel and Brian O'Connor played by Paul Walker. Hobbs played by Dwayne Johnson asks Dom to bring back the crew to bring down the leader of an organization of mercenary drivers running in numerous countries. In exchange he offers them pardons for their previous crimes. Now Dom, Brian, and the rest of their family must bring down this group their way (cars) to succeed and still stick together.

Overall, I thought this was a really good movie! I wasn't expecting much cause I felt that the movies were getting worse as it progressed but I was definitely wrong! It was a very entertaining movie that I had a good time with! Of course, the action scenes and car chases are amazing! Literally they are some of the coolest things in car action I have ever scene and it's crazy seeing some of the stunts they pull off! The acting was also fairly good and everyone in it had great chemistry with one another! The plot was also cool and progressed the story well! I really liked the idea of family that they showed in the movie! It wasn't a breakthrough film but it still did the job of entertaining and being fun to watch!

Rating: 7/10 Stars

In the end, "Fast and Furious 6" was a good movie that was really fun to watch and continued to have great car chases and action! Everyone did well and it really feels like all the characters are a family trying to work together to survive! Again it wasn't anything never before seen but it still was a great movie of this year! If you're looking for a good time, watch "Fast & Furious 6"!

P.S: RIP Paul Walker

My tenth movie review will actually be on my favorite Oscar Best Picture I have seen. It is an older movie that is considered not only one of the best drama crime movies of all time but one of the best movies of all time! This movie is none other than............ "The Godfather"!

So "The Godfather" (1972) is a crime drama movie dealing with the family leading and running one of the biggest mafia's of New York. It mainly revolves around the Godfather of the dynasty, Don Vito Corleone, running the group and members of his family, especially his son Michael Corleone, who grows to be the new Godfather of their family after his father. Problems arise between other groups and even within the family which must be solved to not only have the family's empire live but the family live on as well.

Overall, it is literally one of the best movies I have ever seen! It is simply incredible! The story line is so interesting and so entertaining to watch! You literally feel like you are part of the family! The acting is phenomenal! Every character contributed to the story and made it so believable!  Legends Marlon Brando playing Don Vito Corleone and Al Pacino playing Michael Corleone were literally some of the best performances of film I have ever seen! They created characters never seen before and ones that were so immortalized by their performances! Also, the character development is amazing and each scene advances the plot through conflict and resolution! The movie literally has everything! Drama, action, romance, and comedy with so many ideals on family! The best part about it is the messages and themes you learn about family and life! The movie is something never before seen in film and is a true masterpiece!

Movie Review #9: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

***Movies are something that I find great entertainment in. They are art on the screen and come in so many types. This is my reason for doing my blog on movies and my reviews of them!

The ninth movie I will be doing is on a movie very recent that has received a lot of attention and praise in the last few weeks. It is the next chapter of a growing movie franchise based on the best selling series. This movie is........ "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"!

So "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" (2013) is the sequel to 2012's hit movie "The Hunger Games" and is the next movie of the franchise based on Suzanne Collins bestselling Hunger Games series. The movie revisits Katniss Everdeen after the events of "The Hunger Games" and there is revolution beginning in the 12 Districts of her world that the government is not happy about. On top of that is the 75th Hunger Games which in short involves Katniss and her friend Peta to compete in the Hunger Games again but this time even harder. Now Katniss and her friends must survive and succeed in their tasks to save themselves and the ones they love.

Overall, I thought this movie was fantastic! It really exceeded expectations and brought a great new chapter into the franchise! The story was very interesting and entertaining, especially for one like me who has not read the books! There were many great moments, a lot being ones that kept you on your feet and got you involved! All the actors, especially Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, were great and really grew as not only actors but characters through well portrayed character development! The action and scenery of the movie was amazing which made it quite a masterpiece! Every scene had something new to offer which advanced the plot and made it exciting! The best part is the unexpected moments which make you extremely surprised and want to see more! I assume even for fans who have read the books they are greatly anticipating the next movie as are all the fans! My only problem was some confusing parts that weren't answered if you did not read the books. However, these questions were answered by friends of mine who read the books and the problem didn't change my overall thoughts on the movie. It truly is a great movie that you can appreciate, enjoy, and be excited for more!

Rating: 8/10 Stars

In the end, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" is an amazing movie with a great story and character development that advances The Hunger Games franchise well! In my opinion it is a great sequel that many including myself feel is better than the first movie! It is really entertaining and gets you really excited and anticipated for the next movie! If you have or even haven't read the books, I recommend you watch this movie if you're looking for a great movie!

Movie Review #8: Now You See Me

***Movies are something that I find great entertainment in. They are art on the screen and come in so many types. This is my reason for doing my blog on movies and my reviews of them!

My eighth movie review is on a movie I just watched dealing with bank robbery and magic. It is a recent movie with a lot of great actors who create a bank heist movie with magicians. This movie is....... "Now You See Me"!

So "Now You See Me" (2013) is a crime thriller heist movie about 4 magicians, played by Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson, and Dave Franco, called The 4 Horsemen who come together and perform numerous bank robberies as magic tricks for their shows. The FBI and many others, major actors being Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine, get involved and now must find and end the magicians tricks.

Overall, this was a good movie! I thought it was very entertaining and got me very interested in the story. All the aspects dealing with magic, which is a good amount of the movie, are really cool and exciting to watch! It's crazy seeing these crazy magic tricks and seeing how they are done! The 4 magicians were awesome! Their chemistry was great and it was fun to watch them! The other main actors did their job and contributed well to the story. Furthermore, the plot was one that was interesting to watch and had a lot of unexpected moments which made it even better! I had a couple problems with the movie like some unanswered questions, few unlikeable characters, and an end that makes you want more is a little disappointing way. However, I felt these were minor issues which are covered up by the stunning magic and entertaining moments of the movie!

Rating: 7/10 Stars

In the end, "Now You See Me" is an entertaining movie with a lot of cool magic and an interesting story! It has a few minor problems but overall is a movie with a lot of great characters and substance! Sometimes you definitely feel like your in Las Vegas watching a magic show! It's a fun movie where you can definitely have a good time with!

Movie Review #7: Gandhi

***Movies are something that I find great entertainment in. They are art on the screen and come in so many types. This is my reason for doing my blog on movies and my reviews of them!

One of my goals in life is one dealing with movies. It is watch every Oscar Best Picture Winners up to date! So I wanted to review some of the ones I have seen so far. My seventh movie review will actually be is the 1st Oscar Best Picture I saw. It is a much older movie that received great reception by focusing on one of the most influential and greatest humans of our time. This movie is none other than............ "Gandhi"!

So "Gandhi" (1982) is a biographical movie on the life of Mohandas K. Gandhi. He began as a simple lawyer but as his country India was continuing to be controlled by British rule, he gradually becomes the famed non-violent leader of a country of millions and millions fighting for their independence. There are many challenges he and his fellow people face but through determination and the ideas of philosophy and non-violence that Gandhi preaches and uses, they strive for the greater good.

Overall, this movie is a masterpiece! It is amazing to see the life of such an amazing man being shown through film in such a magnificent way! The story of Gandhi is so interesting. The history behind the film really gets the viewers interested and rooting for not only Gandhi but the country of India as well! You can't ask for a better script that is so well directed! Ben Kingsley who plays Gandhi is phenomenal! He made the character so great like Gandhi was and truly was the one who deserved the Oscar Best Actor award which he received! Everyone in the movie was fantastic and really contributed to the story! Every scene was relevant, many being very deep or just beautiful! The movie is a little on the long side but it shows how much can and should be shown of the great leader Gandhi! The best part about this movie is the awareness brought to the viewer and the inspiration! Gandhi literally went through everything to bring peace and never gave up. This movie really highlights what it means to be a great leader and a great human-being.

Rating: 9/10 Stars

In the end, "Gandhi" is a fantastic movie that shows the greatness of one of the greatest and most influential people of our time! The story, acting, and content really communicate the history and message of Mohandas Gandhi well and make the movie true art! It informs the audience and inspires them to do something great like Gandhi did. Definitely a movie that deserves an Oscar Best Picture Award and a movie that you have to see in your lifetime!
